A Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officer, Thursday, narrowly escaped being lynched by commercial motorcyclists (popularly known as Okada riders) at Mile 2, Lagos.
It was not clear what enraged the Okada riders but a group, numbering about seven, parked their motorcycles and pursued the uniformed officer.
The officer barely missed being knocked down by a vehicle as he dashed, blindly, across the expressway and disappeared into the nearby Jakande Estate.
The new Lagos Traffic Law bans the activities of commercial motorcyclists at the, under construction, Lagos-Badagry Expressway including Mile 2.
The Okada riders are the worst hit on the traffic law as the police and LASTMA officers continue a strict enforcement of the law across the state.
The motorcyclists are already in court challenging the law.
