On Friday, 21st December, Michael Collins (popularly known as Don Jazzy) celebrated the opening of his new club PoP. But just a few hours before then, he was the recipient of the Music Production Icon 2012 at the Ovation Carol and Awards which held at the Exhibition Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites.
The award was presented to the CEO, Mavin Records by International broadcaster, Funmi Iyanda and MC of the event, comedian AY. His dissertation read “Crude oil can be found under the earth, but it takes explorative and refining skills to bring it to the consumers. Just like those explorers and refiners, we present a man who spots talent and knows what brings the best out in them. Please welcome Don Jazzy, a talent hunter, refiner and producer extraordinaire”.
