7 Escapes Death As Truck Crashes Into Vehicles
Seven occupants of three vehicles, in Ogun State, narrowly escaped death at Alagbole in Ifo Local Government Area of the state as a fully loaded truck crashed into the vehicles.
A source at the scene of the ghastly accident, who is also an Assistant Inspector with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Phillips Chijioke told our correspondent that the truck marked Lagos FST 501 XA lost control and rolled backwards while ascending the Alagbole hills.
He explained that the truck rolled backwards ramming into a long queue of vehicles in the evening traffic jam that is a usual occurrence in the area, noting that occupants of the three vehicles affected by the accident were immediately rushed to unidentified hospitals in the neighourhood.
Another female survivor that drove a Honda Accord car with registration number Lagos KR 794 EKY trapped under the rear of the truck praised God for saving her life and that of the other occupant of the car.
The lady simply identified as Queen said she was not driving so close to the truck, having observed that it was not balanced before it started rolling backwards, noting that all attempts to cross to the other lane proved abortive as other motorists refused to give her room to do so.
“When the lorry started rolling backwards there was nothing I could do but something in me just told me that l would not die this way and l repeated it myself calling out my name loud,” she said. With bruises on her left leg, she praised God for saving her life in the wreckage.
Other vehicles involved in the accident were Sienna Toyota bus marked Lagos AKD 735 BB and a Toyota Jeep whose registration number had been removed before the NSCDC official got to the scene of the accident.
