Two Ondo head teachers die in crash


Two primary school head teachers died in an auto accident at Costain area of Ore, Odigbo Local Government, Ondo State, while returning home from their schools on Tuesday.
 
The two head teachers, Igbasan Bolaji and Akinbinuade Festus of St Andrew Primary School, Oja Baale and St Mathew Primary School, Asejiri, respectively died when the two friends were driving home in a Nissan Sunny car, marked ONDO AE 505 GBA, belonging to one of them.
 
It was learnt that the driver lost control at Akinjagunla Junction, Costain, Ore and rammed into a stationary lorry with number plate LAGOS EPE 143 XB packed beside the road, killing the two friends instantly.
 
A family source told our correspondent that Akinbinuade had tendered his retirement letter to the Ondo State Universal Basic Education to take effect from July 31, after serving for 35 years. Igbasan was expected to quit service in 2015.
 
The remains of the two late headmasters, the police said, had been deposited at Ore Specialist Hospital morgue.
 
The Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, Mr Wole Ogodo, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, described the accident as unfortunate.
 
He said, “The accident occurred at Akinjagunla, involving a Nissan Sunny car driven by one Igbasan Sunday, a head teacher, who ran into a Mack Truck marked Lagos EPE 143 XB parked by the roadside by the driver, one Osasere Agahare.
 
“The occupants died on the spot.”
