Cleric, Others Arraigned For Selling Baby For N60,000

The Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lagos, yesterday arraigned a 69 year old reverend, Simon Dike and three other persons before an Ebute-metta Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly selling a month and 18 days old baby boy for N60, 000.

The co-accused persons are the mother of the baby, Joy Uzochukwu, 27, an auxiliary nurse, Margret Obinwa, 49 and Chibuzor Ogbonna,50, who is said to be the father of the baby.

Uzochukwu is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy of human trafficking and selling of a new born baby; Obinwa, the auxiliary nurse is facing a one count charge of purchasing the baby.

Dike is facing a two-count charge of human trafficking.

He was alleged to have failed to use all reasonable means to prevent the commission of the offence by the mother of the baby and the auxiliary nurse
