President Goodluck Jonathan has reversed his
decision to change the name of the University of Lagos to Moshood Abiola
University.
Speaking during his inauguration in Abuja, alongside three others, Gana hailed the president, saying: “This is a pointer to the fact that the current administration is committed to entrenching democracy and justice in the country.”
According to him, the president had upheld the 1999 Constitution by reversing the change of name of the university.
It would be recalled that the change of name of the University of Lagos to Moshood Abiola University, which led to legal action and protests from students and alumni of the institution, was announced in a broadcast to mark the 2012 Democracy Day.
