Lagos State Police Command has recovered five rocket launchers, five dynamites, 11 General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), 250 loaded magazines and 17,000 ammunition, in the metropolis, over the weekend.
The command also arrested a man suspected to be the armourer of the gang at the building where the cache of arms was hidden.
The policemen at the command headquarters jubilated when the policemen attached to the State
Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS) returned to their office at Ikeja with the good news.
The arms and ammunition were recovered in a building at Ajangbadi Area.
A source at the command, Ikeja disclosed that the Commander of SARS, Mr. Abba Kyari, a Superintendent of Police was said to have received a tip-off that some hoodlums hid the arms and ammunition in a building.
Kyari led the squad to the scene and arrested a suspect and also recovered the items.
Meanwhile, policemen attached to FESTAC Police Station arrested three suspected car snatchers and one armed robbery suspect, yesterday.
It was gathered that the Divisional Police Officer of the station, Mr. Mohammed Mu’Azu, a Chief Superintendent of Police was alerted that some suspected car snatchers were trying to snatch a Toyota Sienna car.
The driver of the vehicle was said to have parked the vehicle and escaped, as he suspected that those trailing him could be hoodlums.
The three men were about removing the vehicle when policemen rounded them up. The crime fighters also arrested a man in possession of a locally made gun at FESTAC.
The four suspects have been detained.
