2 Drivers Arraigned For Allegedly Stealling Truck Worth N2.5m



Two drivers on Monday appeared before a Surulere Magistrates' Court, Lagos, charged with allegedly stealing a Fiat truck worth N2.5 million.

The defendants--Sunday Afolabi,35, and Olatunji Adeshina,45-- reside in Surulere, Lagos and Kwara State respectively.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Onyemeachi Meninwa, told the court that Afolabi stole the truck, with registration number. XF 883EKY, property of one David Oluwatosin, on Sept. 16.
He alleged that Afolabi, who was formerly the truck driver, drove it to Kwara where Adeshina received and dismantled it.

Meninwa said that the truck was worth N2.5 million and that the offence took place along Jimoh Odutola St., Surulere.
The prosecutor told the court that the offences contravened Sections 285(10) and 326(1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.

However, the two accused persons pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate M.A. Ladipo granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum each.

She adjourned the case to Nov. 28 for mention.
