Mob Attacks 2 Over Bike Theft Attempt In Lagos

A 26 year-old man, Nurudeen Ayegbola and Jamiu Gbenga, 29, were almost set ablaze by an angry mob yesterday for allegedly attempting to steal a motor bike at Ejigbo area of Lagos State.

The suspects allegedly cornered their victim identified as Nuniru Alabi, with a locally made gun, before the mob swooped down on them. ‘’They poured fuel on the suspects and were about to set them on fire when the police arrived the scene,’’ a witness told Daily Trust.

He added that it was the timely arrival of policemen that saved the suspects. Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, while confirming the report said a locally made rifle with some ammunition were recovered from the suspects, and that the motorcycle has been handed over to the owner.

She said the suspects are being detained at the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) Panti, Yaba, and that they will soon be charged to court.
