Driver Dragged To Court After Killing Woman On New Year's Day

For allegedly causing the death of a lady, Grace Alabi, on New Year day, a driver, Muideen Adedokun, has been dragged before an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court.

The charge sheet obtained by our correspondent, on Tuesday, in Osogbo, alleged that Adedokun drove a vehicle with number plate XA 498 AKD, in a reckless manner, and consequently causing the death of Alabi.

It said the accident occurred at 8am in Ido-Osun community of Egbedore Local Government Area.

According to the charge sheet, the offence allegedly committed by Adedokun is contrary to Section 78, Cap 113, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.

The accused person entered a “not guilty” plea when the charge sheet was read to him.

Defence counsel, Mr Olalekan Sanusi, urged the court to grant Adedokun bail, insisting that the accused person did not commit the offence intentionally.

In his ruling, the magistrate, Mr. Lasisi Adebayo, granted the accused person bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties, who must swear to an affidavit of means.

Adebayo adjourned the case until April 26, 2013.
