PHOTO: Girl 'Has Severed Hand Attached to Leg'

A girl in China had her severed hand attached to her leg for three months before it could be safely reattached to her wrist.


Ming Li, 9, lost the hand after a heavy tractor rolled over her left arm in an accident, Rex Features reports.

Doctors could not reattach the hand straight away, so instead grafted it on to her right calf to keep it alive until the operation was possible.

The hand was later rejoined to her wrist using nerves and skin from her leg.

Doctor Hou said: "After the surgeries and with enough hand training, her left hand could resume most of its functions."
