TOMTOM SPLASHES $22,500 ON MOSES AND EAGLES



TomTom, the Official Candy of the Nigerian national football teams, has congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria for bringing soothing relief to millions of soccer loving Nigerians by lifting the prestigious Africa Cup of Nations which had eluded the country for almost two decades.

Kufre Ekanem, Corporate Affairs Manager, Cadbury West Africa, in a statement shortly after the final match, commended the Super Eagles for soaring above the Stallions of Burkina Faso to become the African champions, stressing that their tenacity, fighting spirit and the determination to succeed handed them victory.

He announced that in keeping with promise made by the brand, Victor Moses who won the Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) of the tournament in the Nigerian team would be rewarded with $10,000 for his excellent performance throughout the tournament. He also explained that the team would receive $500 for each shot on target recorded during the tournament. The Super Eagles accumulated 25 shots on target and would be rewarded with $12,500 for the 25 shots on target recorded during the tournament.

“TomTom, as a True Fan of the national teams, has never doubted the ability of our team to conquer Africa even in the face of daunting challenges. We kept on the crusade to support them and we are glad they rose to the occasion and responded to the yearnings of Nigerians by delivering the trophy. We say well done to the players”, Ekanem said.


He further explained that TomTom has an elaborate plan to receive the team when it returns from South Africa, while the trophy would also be taken across major cities of Nigeria to make Nigerians who are true fans of the Super Eagles to have a feel of it on the streets.

The brand has over the years been at the forefront of providing support for the various teams through different initiatives. In addition to the Most Valuable Player Award (MVP), TomTom introduced Shots-on-Target Award to spur the squads to produce goals and win matches. It has also motivated fans to cheer the teams by organizing road shows in all the geo-political zones of Nigeria.
