The Headies has since then involved these nominees in several activities including; Photoshoot, Press Parley, Media and lots more. Some of the nominees expressed their feelings.
ICEBERG SLIM
I’m honoured I feel special, when I woke up and saw the information, I actually thought it was a joke, then I checked an actual site, I checked twitter and i’m cross checking and asking different people is it true , is it true? Its my first nomination I’m happy . I feel good
PRAIZ
As We all know, the Headies is like the Nigerian Grammys, and I’m really excited that it’s here again and it feels better because I got nominations on it. It’s an awesome feeling, I can’t really express how I feel and I’m grateful to God, My record label and all, my fans out there…Its just the beginning for greater things.
ERIGGA
I swear to God men, I never thought I would make that list, A fan was like “Erigga congratulations on your stuff” on Twitter, and I was like these fans they just want to make you happy and all that. And I just checked it by mistake me too and I was like wow!!! I thought it was one but it was two..I feel very happy, I feel so appreciated. At least what I’m doing is being appreciated out there. I was very happy, very very happy
REMINISCE
I was actually in London and I saw that the Headies nomination list is out and I was like let me check. to be honest I actually didn’t see my name and then later on I checked and last one was street hop!! Ese Ese E lenu !! Asa wambe iyen lo mata!!! Being nominated is enough and Im happy to see my home boy! Erigga! O bad gan!!! Erigga respect..
EVA
I was jumping, it was very exciting, I mean I’ve been looking forward to having one head for a long time and its finally coming and even if it’s a nomination its my first time, I’m just very excited. I’m looking forward to better things ahead and I’m looking forward to the show.
IJEOMA
Crazy, You don’t want to know, I feel like jumping out of my skin, When I got the call I was like, is this some kind of prank or what becaue I didn’t know anything about it until I got that call. So I can actually heave this huge sigh like okay… this people actually recognize that there is an ijeoma out there . It’s so exciting, It’s a huge honour, it’s a huge privilege .
BRYMO
It felt good, what more when you work around the clock, you expect to get something back in return apart from the money, all the noise, all the fame. Definitely if some goes “I think you did well this is a nomination of an award “, that’s amazing thing. For me it’s more important that someone at least recognizes that you’re doing something, that’s far far more important.
PHYNO
I was tweeting actually and I saw the Headies nomination out and then I saw my name, it was like someone tried to jonz me because the person retweeted. I now went to the main Headies handle because they tweeted and stuff, I now saw really it’s like something is about to go down. I very happy about it.
YUNG6IX
I think its one of the most credible awards in Nigeria, so I feel blessed so I feel blessed to have a nomination on the Headies. I was surprised, I was pretty much happy
CHIDINMA
I think it’s the most prestigious and respected In Nigeria, I think they are doing very well, I think they are going places and there is still a lot more to do so I’m here Im glad to be doing this right now.
WAJE
Great and I hope I win again this year. Its exciting because people love what I’m doing, and getting a nomination is people saying well-done, great work, we love your music. And I hope I win. I’m looking forward to winning.
JESSE JAGZ
I mean this is the only verified hip hop awards, so we ready you know what I mean? So I’m excited about it. Not surprised but it felt good.
JAY SLEEK
I feel humbled even though last year I wasn’t happy that song I produced won won artiste of the year, song of the year and the producer that produced it didn’t win producer of the year. But still I’m still humbled.
TY MIX
Honestly I think to be nominated means you are relevant, if you are not relevant you wouldn’t even get nominations in the first place. Talking about whoever wins the winner is going to be one person of all the nominees in this category. It doesn’t mean that whoever doesn’t win is not talented or brilliant enough in His own right. I
TIMI DAKOLO
Its always fun to be recognized and I feel this actually one of the best awards in the country, and I always feel its an honour to be nominated even if you don’t win; to be counted amongst the best is something to cheerful for. Let the best man win. That’s me its always been me.
FLOWSSICK
Well I was lost for words because when I was listening to the radio and I heard the whole list and my name was not there, I was like oh “My God”. I just got home and my friends were just saying ‘‘Yo guy you’re part of the Next Rated’’ and I’m like “Waah”!!! It baffled me because last year I was at home sitting down on the chair and this year I was nominated . At an extent I was proud of myself over that I’ve been able to achieve. I was lost for words I can really explain how I felt. I felt good.
CHUDDY K
Well thank God I believe it’s a starting point for me, My first nomination in the Hip Hop World awards, I believe more hits are coming and I’m getting more awards so I’m very honoured and delighted.
ICE PRINCE
I honestly didn’t see that coming, I thought I was relaxed a lil bit this whole year. Thank God people saw the hard work that we’ve been putting in, I’ve only been in Nigeria recently and to come back home and receive nominations is such a big deal for me. I feel so blessed, I’m honoured especially being nominated for African Artiste of the Year, that’s a big deal, that’s a really big deal. I was nominated in Ghana and I won and this time around I’m back in Nigeria for that same nomination, so I hope I win this time around.
