President Jonathan Grants State Pardon to Ex-convicts Alamieyeisegha, Others

 
The Council of States, headed by President Goodluck Jonathan, Tuesday, granted state pardon to convicted ex-Bayelsa State Governor, Diepreiye Alamieyeisegha.

The former Governor, who was convicted for embezzling state’s funds while in office as Bayelsa Governor, was pardoned alongside another convict and former head of the Bank of the North, Shettima Bulama.


Mr. Bulama was investigated and later prosecuted for corruption by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Sources at the meeting say the Council meeting, attended by three former heads of states and some state Governors also granted state pardon to some of those convicted for coup plotted by the Sani Abacha’s administration namely:

 Former Chief of General Staff, Oladipo Diya, Former Chief of Staff Supreme Military Council, and brother of the late President, late Major General Shehu Musa Yar'adua, Major Bello Magaji, Mohammed Lima Biu, Major General Abdulkareem Adisa (Post Humous), and Major Segun Fadipe

Consequently, these criminals men will no longer be referred to as ex-convicts.
